There Is a Place for Sadness

I think I took this on coast of Nova Scotia.

I think I took this on coast of Nova Scotia.

There is a place for sadness,
a need,
a human requirement
for a species that insists
it's going somewhere,
always progressing,
on this bright blue ball
we circle and circle and circle.
It tempers us,
and I am grateful
for its hush and stillness,
even for its undertow,
that seaward return from waves that have broken upon the shore,
pulling my will out after so briefly found,
even as I'm left calling to it
but remembering if you love it let it go.

I’m taking part in National Blog Posting Month, which means I’m posting on this blog every day throughout November. You can follow along and see who else is posting this month by following these hashtags on Twitter: #NetPositiveBlog and #NaBloPoMo.
