The Unwieldy Burden

We sink,
we settle,
we weight forward,
heft slowly low
with bended knees
and cantilevered back.

Blind work’s an unwieldy burden,
sleep a privilege,
love an inconstant boon
imagined beyond the door.

April is National Poetry Month, so I’m publishing poetry for NaPoWriMo throughout the month.
