179/365: The Music Can't Rush In
A song comes on now,
and you're not anywhere I need you to be.
I can't tell you how I remember that time
we said this one is for our funerals
and that one makes not dancing impossible,
and then cry, because this one's about your heart.
You're not anywhere anymore.
The songs only trace the outline
where the music can't rush in
to fill the breadth of your absence.
Time has made a mess of us.
I am writing one poem every day in 2016, and I am using the hashtag #365poems to document my progress.
