I've Decided to Make Winter a Bit Less Dismal
For as far back as I can remember, winter has been awful for me emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually, so I decided to make this one a bit less death-marchy by literally lightening myself up.
I picked up a couple of pairs of bright winter leggings at Pinkcess, because my funereal wardrobe needed something. (The ones I have are the above pair and these flowery numbers (and this isn't an ad).) They're thick with fleecy-soft insides, and I'm now questioning the validity of all other pants.
I also picked up this Once Upon a Thyme coat in mustard from ModCloth (this is also not an ad), because my old one was not warm enough last year, and it was also a tragic cat hair magnet. I'm a cat lady, for sure, but there's no need to advertise it by looking like a linty carpet everywhere I go. This new coat is more feminine than any other coat I have ever owned in my whole life, but it makes me feel like I could both beat all comers in a monks-only beauty pageant and commit to a serious bitch-flounce.
As of today, though, I am putting myself on an online shopping diet, because it has become a habit to thumb through pages of clothing sales at 2 a.m. when I can't sleep, and even insomniacs don't make the best financial decisions in the wee hours. Also, I haven't actually done my Christmas shopping yet — YES, I AM WELL AWARE THAT CHRISTMAS IS LESS THAN SIX DAYS AWAY — and it's time for me to go to a real store during daylight.
As I have said every year for the entirety of my adult life, I will be smart and shop for Christmas presents before the malls are a panic of anxiety sweat and exhausted families next year. I really will.
