Gratitude List 1107: PANP, a Boat Tour, a Black Bear, Working Through Baggage, and a Doodly Wake
Prince Albert National Park (PANP) is fertilizer for my spirit, and I miss it immensely whenever I am not here.
I took a boat our of the Hanging Hearts Lakes that included an eagles’ nest sighting complete with TWO eagles.
We came upon a black bear — don’t worry, we were safe inside a car — and I got to see again that their necks are surprisingly long. They are nothing like our neckless teddy bears. I felt an immediate maternal fierceness and yelled at the an oncoming car to stop, even though they couldn’t possibly hear me.
As is usual when I visit people I’m close to, I am working through my baggage and personal weaknesses and figuring out how to be a better human being. I’m learning to be thankful for all of it (except the really stupid stuff, because COME ON).
Do you see the way the pontoon boat’s wake in the above photo ripples out in circular doodles? That is my favourite thing I’ve seen in months and months. I mostly watched that doodly wake as we circled the lakes, letting my mind crochet itself through the loops.
