1. My streak of insomnia is over!

Wow. There should be more on this gratitude list. It's not always easy, but I'm stuck at one?

2. I made it through the flu.

Not dying is always a boon to one's existence.

3. I own a good pair of tweezers. May I never lose them.

This is my 1,064th gratitude list of five things since 2008. At the end of this list, I will have listed 5,320 things I don't hate. I designed and ran a small social network back then called Grace in Small Things that was just about gratitude, and 10 years later it's turned into a Facebook group. You'd think I'd be a pro at finding things I'm happy about, but it can be hard. It's January. I'm wearing a toque indoors because my hair is being stupid. I had to miss a thing I really wanted to go to tonight. Sometimes, it's easier to be petty. Sometimes I'm in no mood to say good things.

I watched the U.S. State of the Union tonight. I'm going to blame that for my mood right now and for every bad thing over the next 24 hours.

4. I got paid just in time to beat my credit card back into submission.

Oh, I just remembered that, yes, I have the Grace in Small Things Facebook group! I know I mentioned it just one point and almost two paragraphs ago, but my mood is working against me. That Facebook group is a gift every day. When it's hard to figure out why the world isn't so bad, my other members are there, a whole group of people who help me feel it again.

5. The Grace in Small Things Facebook group reminds me what's what.

Okay. I'm laughing at myself now. This stuff works, I swear. I haven't hated 5,320 things, and I'm still on the planet. Go, gratitude.
