#546: BALANCED LIVING, THE SCHMUTZIE WAY or THINGS THAT HELP ME KEEP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF COMING UNHINGED

This list was inspired by The Ozma List, which was originally inspired by a question apparently raised by me.

  • the Palinode (aka the Fiery One)
  • strong coffee
  • sleeping when I am tired
  • remaining open to others to talk personally about depression and anxiety in order prevent my going down that path of least resistance, denial
  • the song "Pocket Calculator" by Kraftwerk can put things in order
  • the cats, Oskar and Onion
  • being careful not to overextend myself with work, volunteer, and social engagements
  • autumn
  • 5-HTP
  • decent sleep
  • healthy food
  • mind-numbing crime dramas on television
  • painkillers
  • multivitamins and extra doses of lecithin
  • available washers/dryers in our shared laundry room
  • popcorn
  • meditation
  • sandalwood incense
  • beer
  • smiles from strangers when I'm not paranoid
  • being a wallflower when I am paranoid
  • good friends
  • books
  • poetry
  • music
  • hot baths
  • remembering to take note of the smells around me
  • being nice to at least one other human being every day
  • exercise (walking a lot, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, doing everything the hard way)
  • nicotine
  • getting plenty of sunlight and using a full-spectrum light bulb at my desk
  • aromatherapy (there is an excellent aromatherapy stick intended to alleviate PMS symptoms that I got from Saviabella)
  • remembering that being stuck is, more honestly, an unwillingness to move
  • drinking lots of water, because dehydration raises anxiety levels
  • not dieting
  • taking photographs that please me
  • remembering to breathe more slowly and deeply
  • writing every day
  • an active dream life
  • and of course, as Ozma stressed in her list, THE INTERNET
