I lined up toys along the sides of the staircase,
each one a step in my chronology,
my brother's hand-me-downs at the top,
followed by my baby toys,
followed by my fingerpaints and wooden cards box,
and then me at the bottom with my blankie,
the finished one,
the one issued from the math of the staircase.
My future stairs
pushed up and away to the landing,
growing me tall.
