99/365: How to Start

If all goes well,
we will go quiet in the middle —
not soft at the heart,
but sober, silent, solid —
hold ourselves firm
with the hot resolve we had at five
and sit with that bright spike of hot belief.
It's the beginning of stars in there
where no narrative's yet been born to cleave us,
and the meat of us begins to speak.
