The Palinode and I adopted Oskar in the fall of 2005.

He is a terribly uptight little animal. We think he was physically abused and neglected before we got him, because we had to train him not to drink our hot coffee and eat spicy salsa. He took whatever he could get, because he thought that was all he could get.

Now, he is mostly dysfunctional and irritating as all hell, but he's our first of three, and we love him anyway.

I managed to catch him in a quiet moment while he enjoyed the breeze through the open window. In a rare turn, he allowed my intrusion and kept blinking into the setting sun.
