Jiggety Jig, I Ates Me First Fig

Rinsed under water to free it of fuzz,
and its stem twisted off and thrown away,
I ates me first fig. Delicious it was,
its insides thick jam. I'd eat them all day.

Once was a time I thought dates were figs
and figs were just dates by another name,
Oh, how I was wrong; I was such a prig.
I now dance joyful; fig-love without shame!
